Find a fighter's category in seconds.

Enter the fighter's name, date of birth, number of fights, and whether they compete Open or Novice. The checker shows the category for this season and next season, plus the national competitions that fit.

Why we use it: a fighter's category is set by the age they'll be in the season's second calendar year, not the age they are today. That makes late-year birthdays easy to place wrong. This takes the guesswork out for coaches.

For fighters on the cusp between categories — whether that is Open or Novice, Elite or Youth, or between subcategories like Junior A, B, and C — it can be confusing to know where they fit. The checker lays out the options on each side, so the next step is an informed choice. We developed this tool so fighters understand their options: competing with the right information supports their safety, and it gives them the insight to plan their future in boxing, whatever that future may be.

Fighter Eligibility Checker

Four details in — the category for this season, next season, and the national competitions that fit.

A season is set by the age the boxer will be in its second calendar year — the 2026–27 season uses 2027 ages. Category is by year of birth (Boxing Canada), and U23 overlaps Elite at 19–22. Rules and sources are under “More details” in the result. Quick check only — not an official ruling.
